Okay so I have a problem, I joined the Navy but I cant swim. Like at all. Whats going to happen when I get to boot camp? are they just gonna push me in the water?

they should teach you how to swim. just relax and remain calm and you'll be ok. can you go to your local pool or gym and get your feet wet? wouldn't hurt to try before you get there.
good luck!!

You will need to know how to swim before about the 6th week of boot camp. If you don't know how, let them know. They will teach you how to swim. You will need to be able to do the following. You will jump off a 10 foot tower into the pool, you will then be required to swim to the opposite side of the pool (about 50 meters). After this, you will need to tread water, face down, for 5 minutes. This is to see if you could survive in the ocean if you needed to. You will also need to show that you can use your clothing as life support in the water.

If you fail to complete all of these, you will not be allowed in the Navy. These are the BASIC requirements for the swimming quals.

It doesnt really matter if you know how to swim or not. They will teach you and give you good training, plus you have to swim with all your gear on fortunately for squids its not much in the Marines we have to use our packs and rifles. Everyone thinks they can swim till you get in the water in full gear, but they show you how to use everything to get it to float.

no they will teach you how to swim.

however if you fail to learn how to swim, you will not be admitted into the navy.

you have to be able to jump off a high dive, and you have to be able to swim 2 laps of a 25 meter pool i think.
