Question about my Mazda?

Well, I recently purchased a '93 Mazda Mx6 for $1500. It seemed like an alright car, no real damage aside from worn paint.
But a few days after I started driving it, the check engine light came on and now it has to kick before it accelerates, I don't know hardly anything about cars but could it be the transmission? It also makes a buckling sound sometimes too...any ideas?

If the check engine light is on, take it to Auto Zone and let them check the trouble code, then they can give you some idea of the problem.

For the check engine light the only thing you can do is take it into a shop you trust. It must an automatic transmission? As far as the kick with acceleration, I have a Mazda 3 with the same problem. It kicks back when you accelerate between 1st and 2nd gear. It only happens when I give it too much gas too quickly. I have to be light until it shifts into 2nd, then I can floor it with no problem. It's something you will get used to eventually. It's a common complaint amongst Mazdas.
