Hi everyone,
My doctor just prescribed me Lexapro. I haven't started taking it yet. I'm alittle nervous.. I'm just wondering for those of you who take Lexapro, do you get stomach problems?? I have acid and I'm afraid once I start this medication, it will irritate my stomach.. Thanks for your input..

I have been taking Lexapro for many years and it has never given me any stomach problems. But do know that every person reacts differently to every medication.

I used to take Lexapro and the only problem I would have would be that I would get sick to my stomach (not horribly) about an hour or two after taking it. It would pass and after a while it stopped, but that was it.

I take lexapro and have been on it for a month now. Dont be nervous to take it. I was nervous too because I have never been on this type of medication before and never in a million years thought I would be. I was totally against any type of anti depressants. But when it came down to it I needed it and it helped. It took a while though for me. Everyone has different body chemistry. I also have problems with acid reflux. I wasnt sure of the Lexapro was making it worse but I was having trouble eating and not being nauseous most of the time. My doctor prescribed me nexium to take and I am on that now and have been on it for a week already. I havent had any stomach issues. You may also want to try and find fooRAB in your diet that upset the stomach. I found one of my trigger fooRAB was dairy. I havent eaten it in over a week and Ie been able to eat normally. I also stay away from citrus and carbonated drinks and caffiene.

I went on Lexapro and had awful stomach issues...BUT THEY WENT AWAY. Capitalized for emphasis. The first two to four weeks are bad but then your body gets used to it. No permanent damage. And the medication worked really, really well for me.

So, take it, and count down the days to day 21. That's when you'll not only really feel it working but your stomach side effects will be much less.

And yes, I hate having a sensitive stomach. Ugh.

Thanx everyone for your advice.. I feel much more confident to take the medication.. I think I will do fine..

You are welcome. And if you have any side effects, know that these are normal. Many of us have dealt with them so feel free to share your experiences with us if you need some guidance, suggestions, or a shoulder to lean on =)
