If you're a lawyer,
and a client hires you to defend him......
and the client is obviously wrong, and has no chance of winning the case..........
How can you defend someone who you know is wrong and you know is breaking the law?

(It's not like you're going to refuse to defend him because defending him is how you get paid and make a living.)

How can you defend someone who has no case?

Your job isn't to "get him off" whatever he is charged with, it is to negotiate the best possible outcome for him (plea bargain), or, if the case cannot be settled, make sure that the State proves his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. You make sure his rights are protected and that he receives a fair trial and, if he is convicted, a just sentence.
