Ok so I was forced to do pre-med (at an Ivy League school btw). Sounds great right?---NO!! I just finished my soph. year and I did HORRIBLE.....(gpa is less than 2.5). Its been a really bad couple of years for me.....I always wanted to do law but my parents did not really let me....or told me how much better medicine was than law (they are both doctors...lol).
Anyways, I transferred to an easier college, (still a 1st tier though), and I plan on doing better. I just finished some summer classes and I got As in both of them. I think I can do well in this school—I’ll probably major in political science, econ, or english, or a combination.
Anyways I was wondering how the whole “law school” thing works….I don’t know that much about it (I can tell you EVERYTHING about med. school stuff though…lol). I have heard in law the school you get in to counts a LOT!! (whereas in med. school—not as much—unless you plan on teaching—I know MANY big time surgeons for example who went to unknown med schools—and they make just as much as docs who go to Ivy League schools in PRVT PRACTICE—school does not matter much in this case).
Anyways, assuming I do well in the next two years of college—and do well on the LSATs….what other things can I do to get into a very good law school (top 50)?—Im open to ANYTHING (ill get additional degrees if need be—I am so grateful to be in a good situation where I do not have to worry financially). I don’t mind doing things after college….getting in by a certain age is not really a priority….although I would like to try to get in before I am 30—Im 21 now. And do law schools care about additional degrees/experience and stuff like that?
And do I even have a shot to get into those big time schools??
And although it is not a big priority…how much does salary REALLY depend on which law school you go to? Can I still work for a good firm/company and make six figures even if I come from an average law school? Would it take longer?
Thanks for the help!
