Question about kettle bell swings?

Are kettle bell swings more of a cardio or strength training exercise? Or is it both?

Also how long can I do them? If I don't feel like walking/jogging for one day can I replace it with kettle-bell swings?
I feel that if you do it the proper way it doesn't hurt my back or arms though

its all about if you are willing to work through the pain and soreness...kettle swings put a huge toll on the core and arms and especially back, it isnt going to be as effective because most certain you will quit after a few reps depeding on the weight...you have better luck doing the row machines trying to lose weight while working the same muscle group...just go do your cardio, its only 1 hour of your day.
