question about jailbreaking my iphone 4?

ok i tried to jailbreak my iphone 4 using green poison. i didnt realize that the jailbreak is for 4.1 and i have 4.2. i followed all the steps for green posion and it said jailbreak complete. but nothing has changed. or has it? did something change or did nothing change. is anything installed on my iphone? do i need to restore it so it doesnt look like i tried to jail break it or do i not have to do anything. please help
