Hi
I'm a full time freshman at my local community college & I have a question about how financial aid works. Basically I submitted FAFSA online -after- the deadline.. & I am now enrolled in college. In order to register I had to pay 1/3 of tuition upfront (before I received any fin aid)
Ok so I'm wondering, I've since received only information about how much will be covered & FAFSA + TAP [Tuition Assistance Program (NYS)] will completely cover my tuition with some extra.
Since I have already paid 1/3 of my tuition to the college & my fin aid is still in the process of well being precessed...
1) Will I get back the money I already paid? If so from who & how & when?
2) What do I do about books? I think I am supossed to get book vouchers but I haven't gotten anything yet.. if I pay for the books now will I be reimbursed?
3) Will I get to keep the extra money that I was awarded, even though it is more than tuition? How does that work?
Thank you very much if you can help me, I'm a bit confused about how fin aid works.
