i mostly use mono, because i fish a lot of topwater, but i hear braided line works better for castability, and is better for fishing near cover. if your fishing topwater, what line would you use? and what brand is the best for braided line. and what is florocarbon good for?
does braided line sink? or is that just florocarbon?

Braided line is for rocky bottoms and that is why it is so tough mono is for topwater and flurocarbon is just all around good for anything i did a science project on it and got 1st so i know what i am talking about

Braided line is alot stronger than mono. It can be about half the diameter of mono yet have the same amount of strength or more, this is why I like it better. You're not gonna break off with braided line either; I've pulled limbs off trees while the guy beside me is cutting or breaking his line when hanging up. My favorite line for any type of fishing is without question: Spiderwire.
Braided line does not sink.

I use braided line on two of my bait casters so I can have the heavy line test for the weeds.. Tried two times on the open face but had problems.
There is a new line of rods out with smaller eyes that say they fix that problem.

Floro I use on the end of most of my lines now as a leader that can not be seen and will put longer yardage on as the summer progresses and I start fishing the clear deep water up here for small mouth bass.
It drops deeper faster and the bass can not see it in the clear water.
