Question about Dodge Diplomat?

We're in the market for a used car for my husband to drive to work. I think we've found one but I don't know much about this model and I'd like to know if it's a decent car, problems they have (and what to look for to see if it has those problems, if you can), is it cheap to fix, etc.
We're looking at a 1987 Dodge Diplomat 4 door sedan with a 318 automatic, didn't think to ask if it's a 2bbl or a 4 bbl. It has 82k miles and they're asking $1500. The body looks to be in great shape, I suspect it's been parked under a carport or in a garage most of it's life.
If you look here you can see it, you'll have to scroll down. http://www.auto61llc.com/inventory.htm
We are aware that the mpg will be horrific, but we just need it to fill in a gap for us and then it will be handed down to my teenager when we've finished paying off our other car. If he wants to go somewhere he'll have to pay for the gas, and if it spends most of the time going from pump to pump at least I'll know where he is :) I did read about them on Wiki and found it interesting that this type of car body has been banned from some demo derbies because the rigidity gives them an unfair advantage over other cars.
