The ability of a single ligand binding to a receptor protein to trigger several pathways

A. is unique to the yeast mating system.
B. is a key difference between tyrosine-kinase and G-protein-linked receptor systems.
C. is characteristic of the synaptic signal system.
D. does not occur in animals, but is common in bacteria.
E. is common to all plasma membrane receptor proteins

The answer is B. I thought ligand binding is when a signal molecule binds to a receptor. This happens to all receptor proteins, so I thought the answer would be E. Why is it B?
