I went to Monroe Muffler to have my 2002 Mazda Protege ES checked because the check engine light came on: code P0421 - Warm up threshold catalyst below bank 1. I brought the car in and the place seemed to be very professional and had quality technicians. They checked the car and said I needed both catalytic converters-- which made sense to me because the car was running a bit rough. Well this morning I brought the car in to have it installed and I couldn't take it home because one of the gaskets on the universal converter didn't fit... it was leaking. They were looking for another one. I then get a phone call later in the day that my car was all set. Apparently they had two gaskets but had to eliminate one of them. Supposedly the car is done and is "perfect." Any of this make sense?
