Question about buying cinema tickets

I can only assume my thread in the Advice section didn't pluck the heartstrings enough hence the no replys.

I have decided to go to a film festival in a few months and have noticed that unemployed people get quite a big discount on tickets (more than half price) and i was wondering how you would go about ordering them. Do you have to provide any proof that you are unemployed or will you be asked to provide any at the venue? Does anyone know how it all works?
 
I think the venue will have it's own policy, and can only suggest that you contact them and ask them.
 
Almost certainly they will ask for ID for any discounts. It may be possible to buy tickets online but you would have to show ID on the night. Many film festivals receive funding from local authorities or from registered charities, so they will be seen as offering a benefit to the local community by giving discounts to the unemployed.
 
I know all cinemas have a similar kind of discount, i just wondered if there was a standard rule about it since they are not very clear at all on what you need to do. Many times i buy tickets at home, print them off and then when i get there they just take it off you and don't even bother to look at it. I'll contact them and see what they say.
 
If the website says you need to be in reciept of JSA or income support I would take the proof with you just in case. It's only going to be a letter confirming it and that slips in your pocket easily enough.
 
It says nothing like that at all on the site and i have looked at quite a few other cinema sites now and they all have similar discounts but when you look at their Help section they never state you showing proof or anything.
