I'm currently working on a B.A. in history. I'm wanting to become a history teacher for a public middle school or high school somewhere. How in-demand are history teachers? I seem to remember reading somewhere that history is the most easily filled position for schools (meaning there are a relatively large number of history teachers out there), is there any truth to this? I'm currently in the US army, how would that help my prospects of becoming a teacher? What other teaching positions could be filled with only a History degree?
I know a master's degree would be better, and I intend on working towards one when I'm able, after getting my BA. Any help on these questions would be great. Thanks
