This might be a crazy question to ask, but I'm interested in knowing the answer. Recently I was given a epi-pen because I am highly allergic to shrimp. I told the Dr. that I always avoid shrimp, but she suggested I get one anyway. The only time I've ever had any real kind of SEVERE allergic reaction was with the iodine contrast in the CT Scan. I was given a shot of benadryl along with some other meRAB to take care of that. If I would've had my epi-pen at that time, would I have been able to just stab myself with that? Would that have done the trick?

No, they would have probably done what they did as they usually don't let you administer outside drugs in those situations as they want to be sure of what's being done as they are responsible for whatever happens to you. An epi-pen is for when there is no medical help immediately available.

Do you show an allergy to iodine on all your medical charts? if not, you should.
