Question about a verizon phone?

I am on a limited text plan, which is 250 texts. At my age, 250 texts is not much since so many people communicate through text messages, so I was wondering if I could add to the limit on my own. I don't want my parents or anyone else to pay, except me, so I was wondering if I went to verizon and asked them to up it to 500 for a fee, could I do that? I appreciate it.
