Question about a racing wheel foot pedal combo for the xbox racing games?

I bought a new steering wheel and foot pedal last night at gamestop cuz I just always thought it would be cool, but now i'm having second thoughts. I have not opened it yet and I just wanted to know from those who have had one or do have one, in your opinion, does it make the games more exciting for you or basically the same? I know I am the one that has to decide if I want it or not, but just asking everyones opinion. Any thoughts would be appreciated... good or bad. thank you
