Am I The Only One???

So there's this guy that I've liked for a few months, I sit next to him in class. For the longest time, he would make an effort to talk, but I shut him down every time (out of shyness). I feel like I'm starting to like him alot more and I feel really horrible about not forcing myself to talk to him. Sometimes I think he may still (if he ever did) like me, but he hangs out with this other girl alot (I hope they're just friends but???). What do you think I should do? I'm in 10th grade, by the way. Any serious answers are greatly appreciated...
