I have been plagued by a condition that is horrific. Once in awhile, I get extremely stuffy. The stuffiness is so extreme that I can't sleep, have difficulty breathing and dizziness. I also have severe sneezing. The sneezing will come in bunches or groups and I will have pain shoot through my body and then pain is so extreme it brings me to my knees. As far as I know I am not allergic to anything and besides this, I have no health problems. After 2 to 3 days the condition clears up, but always comes back. No medication helps. I have tried several over the counter meRAB including, pain relievers, allergy, and cold medicine with no success. I have tried a hot shower with lots of steam would help, but that doesn't either. Does anyone know what this could be?

If it truly isn't allergies, it could be sinusitis. Either way, an allergist would be the way to go.

Have you gotten your sinuses x-rayed?

Have you tried nasal lavage such as a neti pot?

Have you tried the breathe right strips?

Maybe something such as Singulair can help?

Have you tried any preventers such as corticosteroid or ilk nasal sprays?

Have you gotten your blood pressure checked?

Do you have neck problems?

Have you gotten your sinuses x-rayed? yes

Have you tried nasal lavage such as a neti pot? no

Maybe something such as Singulair can help? I haven't tried that, but I thought that was an asthma med. I have been checked for asthma and I don't have it.

Have you tried any preventers such as corticosteroid or ilk nasal sprays? no

Have you gotten your blood pressure checked? Yes...no problems

Do you have neck problems? No

It would definitely appear to be non-allergic sinusitis - if you indeed have no allergies. A nasal rinse should help with that. You may need a steroid spray or a round of steroiRAB to get the inflammation knocked back first. You might try an antihistamine (which Singulair is as well) such as zyrtec, just in case. But I do recommend seeing an allergist or at least an ENT.

I checked out the symptoms...definately could be it. Does anyone know how I could prevent it before I see the doctor?. I recently moved to a foreign country to work and study. My documents have not been processed yet.

Ah! More info....a sinus rinse should really help - NeilMed is a good one. Or just a saline spray. Ayr is what I use. Don't know what might be available where you are.
