Well I do not really know a lot about cars, I am 17 years old and this is going to be my first car, though it is second hand...It does still look good. It is automatic with a V6 engine, 2000 model with 90k mileage and still in a good looking shape.
Ok anyway, the problem is when I tried to drive my soon-to-be car. Every time I step on the gas from a stop motion, the engine makes this awkward sound. It sound like a soft-train kind of sound. Like "Chuga-chuga-chuga" sound and it only lasts for like 1-2 seconds but I'm still worried about it.
After it give me that awkward sound THEN it gets smoother, like a mechanical whirring sound. It sound like a brand new drill, smooth and quiet.
I haven't bought the car yet but I still depends on how serious that "awkward sound" is. I asked my father and my friend's opinion about it.
My dad said that it maybe because of the "bearing" or the "clutch", they are probably bad or worn out.
My friend said that it might be because of a loose belt or something.
They both said that it might be because of the transmission. Well, if it is because of transmission then I would not buy it because I would spend more in fixing than the cost of the car itself.
They came up with different Idea and I just want more opinion about other people.
Most convincing answer will get 10 points ASAP.
Question is..
What do you think is wrong with it?
and
How much would it cost me to repair it?
Thanks
