Hello, my boyfriend has a 1.5-year-old female Queensland Heeler who is getting worse every day. She is very aggressive towards everyone except my boyfriend and I, and towards every dog except mine (we live together, and I have a 1-year-old black lab mix, very friendly and submissive). I believe she is scared to death of everything, and very possessive of my boyfriend. How can I stop her from lunging at every person and animal that comes near her?
Also, she chases after anything on wheels (dirtbikes, bicycles, cars, etc), and she has already attacked two people on bikes. Thankfully, both were very easygoing and weren't hurt, but I am scared to death that she will have to be put down when she eventually bites someone. The other problem is that, since she is not my dog, and I am certain my boyfriend has no clue how to raise this type of dog, I feel helpless. I am ready to get rid of her, but he will not hear of it.
Help! I don't want her to be taken away, put down, or hurt, and we have been told by trainers that the only option is medication, which I will not do. I would also like to start a family soon, but I will not have children around a dog like this.
