I want to start off by saying that I do not want people to think that I'm trying to live off the state - b/c I'm not. Anyway, the situation is that my husband has been self-employed for a year and a half. He did really well last year (like his business brought in 6 digits - unfortuanately most of it went out b/c it costs a lot to start a business so we had a lot of overhead). However, he hasn't had any jobs come in since January. He's applied and applied for jobs, but w/ no luck. We filed our taxes today (and have to pay in a lot - w/ what money I'm not sure) and my question is, even though he made a lot of money last year, could we still qualify for Medicaid for my toddler? What would they base our income on ? Last year's income or just this last quarter's income, which has been almost zilch? I'm a stay at home mom, but do part-time clerical work. I'm definitely looking for a job right now. Just don't want you to think we're sitting around not looking for work. Any answers?
