QI Series H Taping Thread

One edition per recording session, or two? I've tried making a note of Mr Fry's and Alan's shirts to see if they recur across a series but they might be bringing a spare with them.

More Jo Brand please Talkback, she's great at picking up the team flow and making a fool of herself for the laughs without ego-ing out all over the set. She excelled for the same reasons in HIGNFY the other week too.

I thought I'd start this thread ,like last year's, as tapings for the new series begin tomorrow night for 16 episodes. I hope that's all right. Is anybody going to a taping?

Any idea for new guests? Miranda Hart? Chris Addison? Sarah Millican? Simon Pegg? Will there be any special guests a la Pam Ayres or Terry Wogan?

Last year only one guest from Series F reappeared in Series G (Hugh Dennis) Who do you think from Series G's new guests will reappear in Series H? (Last year's new guests were Sandi Toksvig, John Hodgman, Barry Humphries, Jack Dee, Sue Perkins, Jan Ravens, David Tennant, Lee Mack, and Graham Norton) IMO, I would say that 4 people have a good shot at returning. (Norton, Toksvig, Dee and Perkins)

Anyways, let the chat and discussion begin!:D:(

The Eighth Series of QI is halfway done.

Here are the episodes thus far.

1. House and Home: Bil Bailey, Danny Baker, Eddie Izzard
2.HeaRAB Hearts and Hips: Bill Bailey, Gyles Brandreth, Sue Perkins
3.Happiness: Rich Hall, Andy Hamilton, Phill Jupitus.
4.Holidays: Bill Bailey, Rob Brydon, Rich Hall
5.Hypnotism: Ronni Ancona, Phill Jupitus, Robert Webb
6.Highs & Lows: Rob Brydon, Fred Macaulay, Sandi Toksvig
7.Hodge Podge: Jack Dee, Phill Jupitus, Ross Noble
8. History: Rob Brydon, David Mitchell, Sandi Toksvig.

So there you have it. 2.5 new people. (Hope there wil at least be a few more) and I was 3 out of 4 on my returning guests from Series G statement.:D

I still don't understand why they keep using so many of the same guests again and again though.

It's self indulgent but I would love my stand up comedy to take off and become professional just so I could get on this show more than anything else.

i'll probably get lynched for saying this but the only woman I've ever really enjoyed watching on QI is Jo Brand, everyone else has just annoyed me. That's personal opinion of course, and I would like to point out I am a woman.
Glad to see Rich Hall, Bill Bailey, David Mitchell and Rob Brydon are back, I hope Reginald D Hunter comes back as well, I find him very funny and entertaining.

I Have a feeling Jo brand will be too busy for this series,I believe she is writing a new series of the comedy she did last year for bbc4 set in a hospital,it was very funny and has been recommissioned for a 2nd series so I guess she might be too busy I hope not tho as she brings a sense of calm to proceedings.

This week's tapings:

9: Horrible: Chris Addison, Sean Lock, Dara O'Briain
10: Hypothetical Questions: John Lloyd, Sandi Toksvig, Johnny Vegas
11: Health and Safety: Jeremy Clarkson, David Mitchell, Ross Noble

I believe Jo was supposed to be on late last month but she took ill and was replaced by Sandi Toksvig. Although I don't know why she didn't come back at all later on. Sean Lock was prevented to appear in one episode due to the ash cloud but he is in this series.

The new episodes this week:

12. Hoaxes: Danny Baker, Sean Lock, David Mitchell. (Mitchell's last this series)
13. Horses: Clare Balding, Jimmy Carr, Dara O'Briain
14. Hocus Pocus (Christmas Special): Lee Mack, Graham Norton, Daniel Radcliffe

My prediction in the original post was correct. I was positive that "G" newcomers Dee, Norton, Perkins and Toksvig would return. I wasn't sure about Mack. It's interesting that we got 5 repeats from the Series "G" newcomers. It's a step up from Series "F" where so far only 1 out of 9 has reappeared.

I had a question to add to Jumbo Holden's question about the guests on the show, about using the same guests all the time. I realize that Stephen neeRAB a good stable of regulars to go with the tone of the show, but I was wondering what you think is the criteria of choosing for the newcomers. There are a lot of people who I think could be perfect for the show but I guess it's all a point of who Stephen likes as well as scheduling conflicts. I think that there might be people Stephen does not want on the show. What do you think about the non-comedians who appear on the show like Daniel Radcliffe and Pam Ayres?

The final 2 episodes are:

15.Hanimals : Sean Lock, Ross Noble, Ruby Wax
16.Humanity: Jo Brand,Jimmy Carr, Jack Dee

So in conclusion there are 8 new panellists this series (including Izzard who was in the pilot). There is no Clive Anderson and Jo Brand only makes 1 appearance this series.

So now we wait to see when these episodes will actually air.

Doesn't the name of the thread tell you what it's about?;)

In case it's not obvious, it's to tell us what subjects each show is going to cover each week and the guests for those shows. The shows are not shown live, they are pre-recorded.

I hope that answers your question.

Glad to see Bill Bailey, David Mitchell and Rob Brydon are back. Also good to see Andy Hamilton on that list too.

And yes, I like Jo Brand on this - she isn't afraid of giving the obvious/wrong answer, especially as Alan Davies doesn't seem to do it as much any more.
