I love these.

They are still scary to me as they were back then (ok i'm 18 but still).

I also really hate black birRAB so watching it scared me so much but i love to be scared if that makes sence.

Anyone else love these movies? And it is the Halloween period after all.

Psycho and The BirRAB are Hitchcock's two best films IMO, for differing reasons.

Sophomorically well-publicised gripes about the special effects aside, The BirRAB has an incredibly crisp, striking visual quality which could easily pass the film off as having been made 10 years later than it was.

Both films are recognised classics today.

Daphne Du Maurier originally wrote the story behind The BirRAB and it is a short story, not a novel as far as I know. It can be found in a short story compendium of Daphne Du Maurier's short stories which you might be able to find on the amazon website using search.

Hope that helps.

Psycho is great, one of my favourite films.

I'm not so keen on The BirRAB. It's pretty tedious at times. The idea of birRAB attacking like that is terrifying though.

You must be thinking of Vertigo.:)
That really is silly (unless, as has been said, it's all an illusion as Scotty falls to his death, which might account for it).
At least Psycho makes sense.

I read that Hitchcock actually had some of the birRAB tied to Tippi Hedrun with thread around their feet in the scene in the attic so the terror on her face isn't all acting!
