WOW!!! Only just watched this film and what a powerful movie

I am a father myself and could only pray that I never have to go through what they did in the film...would I have that much strength to go through everything and come out the other side??

Will Smith was excellent

Basically a guy trying to better himself so he can look after his kid. Very emotional and a great performance from Will Smith.

I watched it on Sky Movies a few weeks back and it's a fabulous film. So powerful and overwhelming.

Will Smith was excellent, so no surprise there. He has been one of my favourite actor for a long time now.

and his son.

It's based on the true story of Chris Gardner, who acted as consultant on the film and ensured that it was very true to the real-life story, right down to the locations and set designs. Smith should have been awarded an Oscar. He probably would have got one if Last King of Scotland hadn't been in the same year!

its well worth a watch...

word of warning from me..I almost gave up after about half an hour but SO glad I stayed with it

Been a LONG LONG time since I watched a film and got a 'something in my eye, thats why its watering' moment :o

I challenge anyone to really watch this movie and not be moved by it.

If crazygunuk has the same opinion than I, I think crazygun meant that the first half an hour was rather slow and it took a while to get a story running, but once it progressed into a story it became worthwhile to watch.

Yep, spot on....cant explain how good I thought the whole film was, but in my opinion the first 30 mins was a little slow.

I watched the film with no idea what it was about at all, so perhaps didnt see where it was going...

Hmmm. I don't remember thinking that. I can't remember what happens in the first half hour - getting to know the characters probably.
