Purple vertical flashes of light in vision ?

Ive just this second noticed purple vertical flashes of light in my vision. If i look at my computer screen then look away, they appear transiently.

Started off as purple vertical lines which were bright and now they are thick horizontal lines which are not so bright.

Does this indicate something serious? Thanks
