Punishment: not going to Snowball Dance.?

Any parents ever punish their child by cancelling their attendance at a dance? The Snowball is our middle school's substitute for a prom. My daughter skipped school this morning with some friends to spend time at McDonalds and will be suspended for 2 days.
By the way, she will also lose her cellphone, computer privileges, and be grounded for awhile.
 
I wouldn't let my lids go to the dance or anything else for that matter. Oh I do believe I have grounded my son from a dance once.
