i always brush my teeth after each use of my steroid inhaler. I wish the us could still get the turbuhaler its stupid that canada still is able to get it. I have no idea why we cant get it in the states ugh i will never understand the drug companies.

Can anyone give me their experience on the new pulmicort. I am trying asmanex for the second time and it still gives me thrush and bad heart palpitations. I tried flovent diskus but after awhile it seemed to not work anymore. I did not get any thrush or heart palpitations from the flovent. I then tried the new pulmicort but it seemed to not work like the older pulmicort. I am wondering maybe i did not give it a chance to work. I was on the old pulmicort for years and I had no problem transferring over to the new pulmicort. When i got off the new pulmicort and tried going back on it, it seems to not work. I like pulmicort and it gives me no undesirable side effects. Can anyone tell me their experiences ?

Hi..I don't have experience with the flexhaler, but use the regular Pulmicort 200mcg. My dosage normally is 2 puRAB twice daily and when I have a cold, I increase it to 4 puRAB twice daily. When my cold is finished and I'm feeling "normal", I taper back to 2x2 daily.

What dosage of the regular Pulmicort were you taking and how many puRAB daily?

What rescue inhaler are you taking?

How often do you use it?

What was the dosage of the flexhaler you were taking and how many puRAB daily?

Do you have a peak-flow metre to measure your expiration?

Have you tried ordering it from Canada? I get my Flovent from there...and my Zyrtec. And the old formula Preparation H (for my eye wrinkles).....

Interesting, didn't realise it was available in Canada and not the US...I still get it.

I also don't see that the 180 two puRAB twice a day cannot control your asthma symptoms.

Are you still on the singulair?

What's your rescue inhaler that you're using and are you using it a lot?

I use proair and it really depenRAB on how much i use it. I go to the gym allot so i use it allot for that. But when the pollen is high i tend to use it. Or if i go on a long car drive i use it. I am still on singulair. The new pulmicort changed their formula. So, they added milk proteins or something just like all the other powder steroiRAB. I might give the new pulmicort another try. I also feel strange ordering medication from Canada or anywhere out of the states. I just feel like i need to change medications because these palpitations are just very unpleasant and mainly happens when i get my heart rate up. I know my heart is fine because i had a ekg and a stress test. these tests showed my heart was healthy and did show some palpitations on the stress test and I was told there was nothing wrong with my heart. I know its because of the asmanex because when im completely off of it i no longer have them.

I get it there because it's cheaper than here and/or it isn't available here. I certainly wouldn't pay more! Generic Flovent is not available in the States. And I have to send them a scrip for it. The HRT that I get here at Walgreens is made in England and shipped thru Canada! It's all OK from there.

What about regular Flovent? Is there some reason you can't use that? Why did oyu get off the flovent diskus?

soooooo can you get it in a pharmacy in Canada and then have it shipped to a local pharmacy ? or shipped to your home ? I guess since i never did it I feel its strange.

Why do you feel strange ordering from Canada? My allergist actually goes to Montreal every year to study and has no problem with it. Generic Flovent is not sold here but it is there. Zyrtec was OTC there for years before it was here.

I got off the flovent diskus 250 x2 daily mainly because I felt like I couldnt inhale it right. It seemed to work one week and then the next not work. I was on it for like 3 months. I didnt get the heart palpitations or thrush which was amazing. this allowed me to work out and not get the weird heart palpitations that freaked me out. So, seeing how this was kinda not working I moved to another steroid. I tried alvesco but it made me really dizzy and did nothing for my asthma. I was starting to get really annoyed and just went back on asmanex. I breath well on asmanex 220 x2 daily but it gives me bad heart palps and thrush. I try once daily but my asthma isnt controlled as well. I recently started taking singulair again and it seems to help maintain my symptoms.

The pulmicort turbuhaler 200 x2 daily I took for 5 years and it worked great for my ashtma. 2006 I added singulair to my asthma treatment and around 2008 stopped taking it. Then in 2007 pulmicort got changed, I didnt really notice to much of a difference. I was on the flexhaler 180 twice a day. Then in 2008 I decided i wanted to try another steroid. I tried asmanex but I was on and off of it because of money issues. Then 2009 I was able to started taking asmanex twice daily because i had the money and what not. after awhile i started to notice the thrush and palps.

I am thinking about giving pulmicort flexhaler another try and I hope it works and I can move on with my life. I dont want to worry about thrush anymore and I dont want to worry about working out and having my heart go all crazy and freak me out.

Be sure and brush your teeth or at least rinse your mouth out with mouthwash after using a steroid since you tend to get thrush.

Hi bflax....yeah....the lactose additive is interesting. I would think it's some sort of buffer...maybe I'll email the company and find out what's going on since I LOVE the pulmicort "regular", and if it'll still be available. I hate changes like that.

Nothing like the stressors added by manufacturers when things are working.

It would be nice to know why they added it. I am trying the pulmicort flexhaler again today....I will give it a month and hope it starts working. Its strange the paper that comes with the medications that shows the trail results. The flexhaler shows less effectiveness then the turbuhaler but not by much. the turbuhaler levels out at 0.4 and the flexhaler levels out at 0.3 in the changes of FEV-1 (L). UGH asthma sucks and so does the drug companies....and how come canda gets the regular pulmicort ?

flexhaler is actually the new version of pulmicort. For some reason the company thought they needed to change it...I agree with the change in the mouth piece change. So, it makes me wonder why they add lactose in the powder steroiRAB like advair, pulmicort flexhaler and so on ??????????

so far i am having luck with the pulmicort flexhaler. It seems to be kicking in....im sure it will get better from here. I just wish i could have the turbuhaler :(
