Publishing poetry and short stories?

Ive recently started writing poetry and short stories. There kinda dark and depressing but people tell me there good and i should consider publishing them. What are some legitimate places to publish ( that arent online ) like Readers Digest or magazines. Please help me im kinda lost finding a place. Thanks
