Puberty relates illness?

My 14 year old step-son has been growing rapidly recently. Not a massive surprise given his age. However, in the last month he has been extremely tired and lethargic, has had two episodes of going dizzy and only just not fainting, feeling nauseus and actually being sick and having a headache.

He has to be reminded to eat and often says he's not hungry. However, when food is put in front of him he can eat like a horse.

Could this tiredness, vomiting and dizziness be related to his growth spurt? If so, any ideas how I can get him to eat when he feels sick as wonder if he feels sick due to lack of food. How many calories should he be eating while he is growing so rapidly?

Best thing to do is have him checked out by a doctor to rule out other health problems. Usually fast growth spurts increases their appetite, not sure the other symptoms are related.

If no other problems, then keep close eye on his eating and make sure he takes time out to eat. Prepare foods that will not upset his stomach but will give nourishment. Be sure he gets plenty of rest, no late nights up etc.
