when i plug in any power supply to this 2006 hp mobo the light on the PSU flashes like 1...2...3...non stop and a little smoke came out of a capacitor on the mobo. also there is a sound similar to a drill sound coming from the processor. its not the fan and the flashing happens with other power supplies as well.
more info: i used 2 PSU's, one has a 24 pin the other is 20, when i had the 20 in, it made smoke but not with the 24 pin. and whats weird is i think when the 24 pin is in, the drill sound is coming from the PSU and not the CPU wtf? i could be wrong but i had my ear really close to it
oh and uh it powers down on its own fast as well. no monitor hooked up but when there is, theres no picture
