PS3s are underpowered: Motorstorm can't even handle multiplay split screen

Motorstorm won't have split screen, which is fucking idiotic. The only way to play vs your friends is for them to own a PS3 as well, with them playing from their house, you from yours. You can't play in the same fucking room.

Good job Sony, another fuckup. PS3 couldn't handle Motorstorm well in split screen so they dropped it. Underpowered console FTL.

Can you guys even remember the last racing game that didn't have split screen multiplayer??

I honestly wouldn't give a fuck about the graphics degradation if it had 4-player splitscreen. Honestly, with a decent enough resolution, why not add the game mode? Why the hell would you trade gameplay for graphics? It would still look better than previous consoles.

Graphics not that great? You serious? The cars pushed 80,000-105,000 polygons a piece. That's more than any other racing game of all time. In comparison...GT4 Cars - ~5,000 polygons, PGR2 Cars - ~10,000. Hell, the interiors on PGR3 pushed 8 times more polygons than an entire car in GT4.

I don't give a shit about polygons and what it can push. On both 720p and 1080i, it wasn't all that great. So what? It has all those numbers that are like chinese to me. But it still didn't look all that great.

Now if they had the garage graphics... WOW.

I distinctly remember playing Lost Planet on single player mode and seeing slowdown during some of the parts I was playing.

360 could have done COD3 in 1080p but it would have cost a less stable framerate, shittier textures, etc.

COD3 is just another example of a multiplatform game on both PS3 and 360 that looks better on the 360. That is pretty much the case for every single game that has been released on both PS3 and 360 so far...360 being the superior version graphically.

The fact is, the PS3 version of COD3 has noticeable framerate problems and has markedly worse lighting and textures than the 360 version. That is fact. Every review has said so.

owned it..... wasnt that great of a game after time, too much of a cross of arcade and sim. if i wanted arcade, id play nfs, if i want sim, ill go play forza over pgr. and split screen in that game was worthless, i usually do the whole online racing and play with a whole screen to myself, dunno, seems to work just as well

I'd rather have a stable framerate than higher resolution. The HANA chip on the Xbox allows developers to have the option to drop the resolution on their games, then have HANA upscale them to the proper resolution without much loss of detail.

Who cares? I'd rather have the option for split screen with graphics that aren't as good vs no split screen at all. I understand the developer's point of view, trying to get the best looking game out as possible but the move away from offline multiplayer recently in all games has been pretty sickening.

Split-screen racing requires compromised visual/aural fidelity to accommodate multiple simultaneous views of the environment.

any and every game that has split screen suffers from it
