PS3 + Westinghouse = HDMI Problem

Feeling Lonely

I bought a Westinghouse 47 inch 1080p LCD and I hooked up my PS3 to it. And here is the problem Im having. The picture is very sharp, but it goes on and off like every 2 seconds. I have the sound and display set to HDMI but the screen shows the image, then it goes blank, then it goes back to the image, then it goes blank, etc. It happens but mostly with DVDs, not as much with games, and hardly ever when im in the setup menus. Sometimes (not all) it sorts itself out and remains on. Any ideas? Is it my PS3, is it the 47, or is it me?

Im going to try the regular AV cable to see if it does it. But I really wanted a 1080p for HD cable and gaming.

EDIT: I tried the regular AV cable and it works fine. WTF!

theres a lot of discussion regarding the ps3 and westinghouse lcd's on avsforum, I belive the common fix is to use an hdmi to dvi from ps3 to tv

.

theres a problem between HDMI 1.3 and the set. (which is 1.2)

i had the some problem. i had to unplug it or switch through video outputs via controller to make it stop

< 1080p 37" westy

When you say you had to unplug it, do you mean just unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back into the TV? I tired switching through the inputs on the remote but when I got back to HDMI it still did it, from time to time. Sometimes using the remote would stop the problem. With a DVI to HDMI cable will it still output to 1080p or is it 1080i?

ya Samsung is the shit, I have 3 24inch Samsung LCD monitors, but i couldn't pass this westinghouse up, I read some good reviews on it and the price is right.

you wont' be able to tell HDMI from component, I have a 1080p set and can't tell what cable i use. People are stupid when it comes to HDMI, component is a plenty capable connection.

I haven't really seen any comparisons of HDMI VS component, but I did have components on my old TV and they were very good. I wish I had a component cable for my PS3 so I could try it, I will have to wait until tuesday I guess.

Will the old PS2 component cable work with the PS3? I dont want to run to the office without knowning ahead of time.

its the tv, like others have said.

return it regardless if it works with teh ps3 or not, its a POS. you can even pick up a cheap vizio like i have, 1080p runs flawless its a beautiful thing

Very little difference between HDMI and component as far as image quality. The only real difference is that HDMI also transmits digital audio and supports HDCP.
