PS3 Vertical or Horizontal for long gaming and movie periods, and Idle periods?

I wanted to know if the PS3 had better cooling, and overall performance horizontal or vertical.

I am probably going to keep it on almost all the time, unless I am going out of the house. So which would be better for ventilation and performance for long periods of time?
