JamesKim1111972 Asked this question already, but I want to ask it again because the answers he got sucked.
I have the exact situation at hand. I have a PS3 with YLOD again: after I fixed it once with the glorified hairdryer method. I got about 120 or so additional hours out of it, but then it did the freeze thing and then it died again (luckily I backed up my data). Still, I'm super pissed because it's like 1 month out of warranty and there are no other viable options. In addition, the triple suck is that I love NetFlix streaming and watching my movies on it too. I feel like drop kicking this pos and flippin the bholes at sony off and going back to reading (yes I remember how).
What I need to see is an answer to the question: what do I do now? Should I buy a new PS3 or what? Where is the best deal for a new one? Where can I get a shit-hot warranty for my new one if I break down and get one? Can I sell my pos fatty that I have now? I feel like I'm a victim of planned obsolescence here. They programmed this mother to break like a day after the warranty: they're doing this on purpose because the PS2 I have is still a trooper and I'm sure they regret it and are playing that BS game with us all because no one understands that it takes just the right combo of additives in the solder or a screw to get the thing to die right on schedule.
Aren't there laws protecting consumers from this kind of shenanigans anyway? See: lots of questions.
