When I hooked my playstation up, I was getting a buzzing noise though my surround sound, and grey lines in my tv. I tried hooking it up to my tv..instead of my surround. Well still buzzes. I have heard many things...thats its a ground loop, and simply unplug my cable coaxil. That did nothing. I want to know if anyone knows whats going on. I dont have it hooked up to a HDTV, but people with HDTV are having the same problem.

Also, the buzzing will stop, as soon as I inplug the audiocables from the tv. Or if I unplug it from the back of the ps3. It even makes the noise if the ps3 is COMPLETELY off. It never did it with my ps2, or xbox. so how could it be a ground loop? It has to be something with the ps3 unit itself. And it cant be just my unit, cause hundrests of people hare having the same problem.

Anyone know of a way to fix this? Or anyone know if sony is going to fix this problem. I dont see how it could be a fix with just a update, im thinking its something with the system itself.

It sounds like your TV. Like you said, it makes noise when the PS3 is completely off. So that rules out the PS3. Electronics only cause interference when they're on. You could try buying a new set of PS2 or PS3 AV/multiout cables (they're the same for both systems), and see if it works then. Then you can call Sony and say your composite cable is bad and you'd like a new one (they'll probably send you one under warranty).

A ground loop can occur with the PS3 because if you notice, it has the 3rd grounding prong. The Xbox and PS2 don't have that third prong. The two paths to ground are between the PS3 and the coaxial cable.

But this sounds to me like a case of interference or bad ports on your TV. Have you tried hooking another device up on the same ports? What all is turned on around the system? Are there any phones, cell phones, routers, computers with crazy large power supplies? Try unplugging devices such as those and see if you can't get the noise to stop.

I doubt that "hundreds" of people are having that problem. Link or it's just an exaggeration.

plug in your AV cables and put your PS3 into stand-by mode (red light) Press and hold the button until u hear a few beebs, this will reset the video/audio settings on the PS3 and this should help you.

If not contact Sony
