Proxy

Has anyone used a proxy to connect to the internet?

How do you set that up? Is it worth it ....does it increase speed, download time, etc..?

Cheers,

Syno

A proxy is just a middleman server typically used to mask your true IP address. The best you can hope for is speed close to your ISP but never faster.

Nothing can speed up your connection using a PDA because the bottleneck is the PDA itself.

Palm's proxy server (optionally used with WebPro) also formats web pages for the PDA, so the page fits the screen width. I think it makes pages load a little faster than not using it--maybe it strips out large ads and images or something.

Plus tables can be removed to further reduce badwidth usage.

I use Proxomitron for my windows PC to strip out all sorts of crap. It's a software HTTP proxy for IE/Mozilla.
