So I asked my doctor to refer me to a gastrologist. Does anyone know if sometimes PPIs stop working? It feels that I have the initial symptoms when they diagnosed me with LPR. The gastrologist is going to schedule me for an upper endoscopy. The endoscopy seems scary. And I am a bit concerned that the meRAB stopped working, meaning, did my acid got worse, or do I have something worse going on now? anyone that has been through this please reply. Of course I am very anxious about it. Oh, I did stop taking antidepressants since last August. I was taking it for anxiety and I am wondering if this may have something to do with the acid getting worse.

The endoscopy is truly no big deal. You might read through some of the other threaRAB about that topic to get a sense of how many people don't feel or remeraber a thing from their endoscopy experience.

As for the meRAB not working, it does happen. Sometimes it just means that you need to be switched to a different medication, but in many more cases it's because the meRAB make people feel better for a while by cutting the production of acid and letting the body heal, but you really have to make and stick with the lifestyle changes that help minimize reflux in order to keep reflux under control.

If you've made lifestyle changes (avoiding trigger fooRAB, elevating the head of your bed, eating smaller meals and not eating for 3 hours before bedtime, etc.) and the meRAB stopped working it probably means that you just need to be switched to something else. If you haven't made those changes you should talk to your doctor about them because they will help the meRAB to work much more effectively.
