Hi everyone, I've been suffering from this Acid reflux for close to a year now. I've seen a specialist and surgeon and they've done many tests, they come back telling me I'm fine. The specialist had me on Nexium for quite some time which gave me great relief. Only problem with that was he gave me samples because my insurance don't cover it, I eventually ran out and now I don't see him anymore due to financial troubles.

I haven't been able to make it to any doctors lately due to financial troubles and I just can't function properly with my horrible symptoms. I do have Protonix which I always take once in the morning, but it's not helping anymore. My mom and I thought that maybe if I double up if that would help. As anyone ever doubled doseage? Such as, one in the morning and one after dinner? That's what I was doing with my Nexium when I was on it... just wondering for the people who are on Protonix how they actually take it? If any different than the once daily in the morning.

I just wish relief would come my way. I'm so miserable. :( Any feedback is appreciated :D

I noticed there was no answer to your question.
I am not sure if this helps at all, I am on nexium 40mg twice a day. I have definitely seen notes about people being on prevacid, and losec twice a day, so I guess the same rules may apply?!! Why don't you do a search on protonix, and see if there is anyone on twice a day protonix?

hi ive been on protonix twice a day, but i find losec better, what are your symptoms?

I think the makers of nexium offer financial help of some type... they give out coupons for reduced prices for folks that can't afford it... check on the nexium site to see if they still do.

There are many over the counter pills you can buy. Prilosec is a good one, or you can buy the generic of prilosec. I just quit taking Prevacid even though I have a prescription to take it, I find that buying OTC is a better deal for me and I take it at bed time, Seems it is just as good as Prevacid.

Hi Abbygal

Ive just been doing some research on my acid reflux problems and sturabled accross your posts. I appreciate they are quite old but was still hoping you may be able to share your experiences so far. I too was on amitriptyline which my doctor prescribed be for sleeping problems. About three months into taking them I developed terrible gerd. I stopped taking the medication immediatley. That was over two years ago now, during that time the problem seems to have subsided slightly, but over the past three months it has returned and at the moment I do not dare eat or dink anything except for very simple fooRAB. I am due to see a specialist in three weeks. Has your symptons improved since writing the original post? Are you still taking the medication?

I cant believe that something I was taking for a such a simple problem may have permanently damaged my LES for life but starting to worry this may be the case! If I can sort it out I'm never goin to take any drugs for anything again.

Anything you say about our experience would be useful to know! And really hope your ok now.

James
