Property laws in florida on personal items.?

I'm just wondering what the eviction and property laws are in florida concerning personal items. I have my house that I pay rent for and my ex boyfriend has some things here that I no longer want here. I'm not damaging them by putting them outside so he can't sue me for that right? I'm thinking of sending him an email, since that's the only way he would talk to me, and telling him he has 24 hours to come and get it or it will be outside waiting for him. There's nothing he could try and do to me right? He didn't pay rent or anything i just allowed him to stay here.
