My son is a senior in high school and is a computer whiz. He is trying to earn an IT license and a few other licenses i.e. HTML. In my opinion he is on his computer too much now that he is on summer break (about 5 hours a day). I decided to ween him off of his electronics by taking away all of his devices for a month. He did nothing wrong deliberately wrong, I just feel that he shouldn't be on them so much. What do you guys think about this decision. In all seriousness. Thanks a bunch.
Well this hasn't happened yet but I gave him until 9 to give me his stuff. He is actually 16 because he skipped a grade and he plays games sometimes but what teenager doesn't? Thanks

If he is a senior in high school, he is either 17 or 18 and thus old enough to make his own decisions about how he uses his time. Especially if he is pursuing a career path and not just playing video games, the time he spends online is a benefit to his future, not a distraction from it. Taking away his devices is not achieving anything but upsetting him. Calm down and recognize your son is not a little kid anymore.
I moved out when I was 16 and graduated high school a year and a half early, with honors.
He is plenty old enough to make his own decisions.
Most parents are thinking about their kids moving out at this age, not instating new rules.
