Okay, I asked this question earlier and somebody gave me a jumbled information which didn't make sense, or could be proven wrong even by me.
Let me start off by saying I'm 17 years of age, and I am in the Army Reserves. I joined the AR around June of 2009. Now, according to Military.com it states in order to be promoted to an E-2 (which is NOT a PFC) you must have six months TIS. It makes this sound as if it's the only requirement in order to be promoted. Now, I REALIZE you can be promoted by recruiting someone else. So please, don't feed me that as an answer. But this site, which seems to be unbiased information says the only stipulation for promotion is six months TIS. Heres my two questions I guess:
Is this requirement posted on the website for post basic training soldiers, or does it apply to everyone?
Do I listen to my recruiter and follow his method for promotion or contact my unit which I've been assigned to and talk to them?
Note: My recruiter has informed me that my promotion will come from passing a series of small "quizzes" in a sense, which include knowing the Soldiers Creed, military time, and a few other things, along with passing a PT tests. Now, I might add that other soldiers pre basic and post basic have informed me they never got a promotion before basic and were told by this same recruiter that they would get one if they attended the DEP functions. My recruiter fails to tell me where I stand in order to move forward for a promotion.
Basically, what should I do? I'd like to at least be an E-2 (WHICH IS NOT A PFC) before I attend basic.
