Bay, I think I was so sore because I think I was having a Fibro flare. Last time I had the shots, I was laughing and joking and had very little pain nothing I couldn't handle. This time the needles felt like razor blades. It was really really painful. I just started sobbing toward the end. ( now thats erabarrassing )
As for your situation, I tried working part-time in an office a few years ago and sitting hurt me as much as standing. What really killed me though was filing. All that bending and straitening hurt a lot. So yeah, I believe you when you say it hurts. Tell voc rehab that you need a really good chair with lurabar support. Heck, you should see if you could get you a chair with heat and massage LOL.
Take care, Dee:)

Yep, the sobbing sure is erabarassing, i've done that myself quite a few times. But when something hurts that much, I can't prevent the sobs, no matter how hard I try. Sitting always bothers me if I don't keep getting up, but those chairs are just awful. Maybe i'll tell my counselor, but i just so hate to ask for things, I'm so stubborn.

Bay, You should ask about the chair, When I went to Voc Rehab my counselor who also had back problems had a special chair. they are there to help you get and keep a job. I gotta tell you my back is killing me today. I woke up in pain and its not getting any better. it feels different than my normal pain. Its almost like I twisted it in my sleep or something, and it almost takes my breath away.

Ohh , noooo, I'm so sorry! I wonder if all those injections are causing something to give you new pain. Maybe it's too inflamed or something, gosh I don't know. I don't really know any about prolotherapy...Ohh okay, I just went & read something about it. So it seems this therapy is meant to cause inflammation in the tendons and/or ligaments it gets injected to, which in turn causes further growth of that tendon and/or ligament. So now I do wonder if that inflammation is now causing you spasms or maybe it's getting inflamed inside your spine as well. I think you had said it was injected outside of the spinal canal, right? I hope so, otherwise, at least I would think, if it was inside, then it might cause too ligament growth which could start compressing on things. Does this make sense?

Hi all I just had round 2 of prolotherapy yesterday and boy do I hurt. This second round was much more painful than the first. Doug counted the needle marks on my back and bottom and there are 28 of those little buggers. Plus the nurabing shots aren't even included in that nuraber. As my mom says it will either cure me or kill me lol. Take care, Dee

Yeah, that makes sense but the pain seem to be waist level. I am praying that I don't have kidney stone again. I don't think I have ever hurt so bad as when I had one of those. I guess I will know one way or the other in a couple of hours. If it is a kidney stone it will be wanting to come out pretty soon. Oh God please don't be a kidney stone.

Hi Dee, OMG 28????!!???? Geez, no wonder you are hurting so much! And I bet you are probably having spasms around the area too? I'm sorry this round of therapy has been more painful, but I do pray that it enRAB up helping you alot more with your pain.

Hi Bay, Hi Pepper, I am feeling a lot better today. I was extremely sore for about 3 days but much much better now. My doctor wants me to be as active as possible and said that I should walk alot. So I have been outside walking around the block a few times a day and taking parking spaces pretty far from the store to get in some extra steps that way too. Pepper, I read your post about seeing the new neurologist, I am so glad they have found a reason why you are hurting so much. I know that just knowing has to be a huge relief. Keep me posted on your progress. Bay, its good to here from you! How have you been?

OMG, ughhhhh....I'll pray to god for you that it isn't a kideny stone either! I've never had one of those, but I saw a friend of mine have one (and she was not one to ever complain of any pain), she was collapsed on the floor in the fetal position and crying (which I never saw her do). I really, really hope that's not what it is.

Hey Bay I just thought I'd give you an update. I am still in really bad pain. I will probably call PM tomorrow and see if she thinks it has anything to do with the prolo. If not than I will call my GP and see what she says. I am still praying its not a kidney stone. I am glad you have never had one they are unbelievable. Lucky me I have had both kidney and gallstones and both of them were horrible. Hope you had a good day at work. Take Care, Dee;)

Dee, I've been trying to hang in there, i've not had a good past couple of weeks. I started training on Monday, which I am very happy about, but...I had clue just how badly it might affect me physically. I am so totally drained & fatigued from the pain. Who would imagine that someone just sitting all day would become utterly exhausted from doing so. Well, except us spineys and others with pain would know that.

I'm glad you are feeling better today! It was probably alot of soreness from getting so many shots, and maybe hurt more b/c you've had all those shots in the same area before. And maybe even spasms in the area. When I used to get lidocaine injections, and it was done into an already spasming muscle, OMGGGG, the pain of that awful. And then the spasms got even worse after the shots. Thankfully you're starting to feel better and I hope that continues for you! I forgot now, how long does pain relief from taht usually last for you?

Dee, I will be lifting you up in prayer. I am sorry I did not see this sooner. Kidney stones are supposed to be very painful. You poor thing! Get better and please keep us posted. ((((Hugs))))

/thanks for the prayers Diet. I slept most of the day away. as soon as the morphine wears off, I start hurting bad. The pain is on the left side of my back about 3 inches down from my bra and in the very top of my hip. Which is weird because I usually don't have pain in that area. Most of my pain is usually on the right side. I wish I could remeraber more about the last time I had a kidney stone. I sure remeraber the part in the ER OMG, I had 3 shots of morphine and it didn't do very much at all. They gave me a CT scan and said I had 4 stones and they were small enough for me to pass and the sent me home to deal with it. Horrible. Anyway I really hope thats not the problem. Kidney stones feel like a ceoss between the last stages of labor and waking up from lurabar fusion with the extra added bonus of feeling like you need to pee but can't. Anyway, thanks for your prayers and please keep praying. Maybe if we pray hard enough it will all go away. I am also praying for you. I am glad you have a new doctor who seems to be getting to the bottom of things. Take Care,:) Dee

dee , looks like I'll be getting this prolo done soon . Could you please tell me how bad it hurts and for how long after ? I tried to avoid these for the longest time thinking my S1 joint isn't the problem , but my surgeon keeps telling me it is . So now I'm waiting on my surgeon to contact some Dr. close to do this to me .. Any info on how they do it , and how you feel during and after would be very helpful.. Do they give you anything for pain afterword ? I ask this because my PM Dr. is a wierdo and don't like to give more than hydrocodone to me.. Thanks and hope its working for you.

BTW , whats your problems that you need these injections ?

Shawley

Hi Shawlwy I replied to you in your thread. as for why I need the shots, I have just about every back problem known to science. Spinal stenosis, DDD. Pain after fusion, and good ol osteoarthritis. I also have these problems in my neck and do prolo there too. They have made a huge difference in my neck but the jury's still out on the lurabar area. the procedure is painful but I don't have much tolerance to pain anymore...so it may not be painful for you at all. I always do the sedation and I recommend it . Feels great to be pain free for at least a few minutes. Let me know how it goes. Take Care, Dee
