process com.android.im has stopped workin

I just got a mytouch this weekend the first few days my IM was working fine then all the sudden all my contacts disapeared from yahoo and it keeps tellin me that the contact list failed to load server timed out and if i try to add a contact it tells me that process com.android.im has stopped workin and forces me to force close any ideas what is happening and how to fix it?
 
Maybe the local contacts database has got corrupted. Try clearing the IM app's data by going to Home -> Menu -> Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications (wait for the icons to appear properly) -> IM -> Clear data.
