problems with RPM it reves too high and it stays at 3000 when in park or any gear...

...2003 chevy malibu? I have changed the throttle position sensor and it still runs high the check engine has come on and the code reads throttle position sensor is bad but changing it does no difference it only has 40k miles on it any info will help
 
check your connector at sensor and along the wiring to make sure u don't have a bad place in wire and also check for any loose vacuum lines
 
You need to re calibrate the throttle position. Not sure how you might try turning the key to ON not starting it just on, depress the fuel pedal and wait for two minutes then turn it off and start it.
