Problems Using Nokia Firmware Updater

I have downloaded the Nokia firmware update programme onto my laptop and connected my N93 to do the update, but it gets as far as saying SEARCHING FOR A CONNECTED PHONE but goes no further.

Can anyone suggest a reason for this?

At least you have the program running

Mine craps out after loading it and wants report to MS.

I've unstalled and reinstalled a few times - the Nokia Software Suite is fine.
