...before. Now it won't ?!!? I have a Panasonic PV-GS85 Camcorder. I normally use it for a webcam on Windows Live Messenger. Last time I used it was about 3 months ago, and since then I had to run ComboFix thinking I had a virus/malware on my system (Turned out to only be overheating). I tried to use it today, and it is unrecognized. I tried to use Add Hardware to fix it, and it says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)". And when I run the Update Wizard it says, "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software". I do not have an installation CD for this camera, although most websearches I have found says that with Win XP I don't need drivers. I've been trying everything for a total of 8 hours straight, and I am totally lost on what to do now. Oh, and yes I have a PCI Card with a 4-6 pin Firewire cable. I can hear it when I plug and unplug it, but that's all I get except when I run Add Hardware (I can see it in the list, but it has a yellow question mark with a yellow exclamation point over it. Help !!!!. Also, when I Unplug it, I get that "Ding Dong" sound, and when I plug it in, instead of hearing that "DONG DING" sound, it's more like "D-D-D-D-D-D". So there is a problem somewhere, but have no idea WTF it is.
