Problems starting a 2005 Chrysler Sebring?

About a couple weeks ago someone broke into my car and broke and took out the cylinder where you insert the key to start the car. I had to buy a new Steering Column for it. My friend (experienced Mechanic) put the new steering column on the car and said everything looked good, but when he tried to start the car it turned on only for 1-2 seconds and then turned off and it kept doing that. They figure it has to do something with the car security system. I didn't have an alarm before on it, but a couple days before my car got broken into I had someone install a remote starter. My friend says that he connected all the matching wires to the new steering column. He doesn't know what could cause the car to start for 1-2 seconds and then turn off. ( My car never had an alarm, only the regular factory chain thing to lock the doors.) Also I got a new steering column with a new key.

Note: After my car got broken into, they tried and use a screw driver, so we tried and see if my car turned on with the screw driver and it did, but it turned off after 2 seconds, so I think that's why the robber didn't end up stealing my car )

I want to know what can cause the car to start on for 1-2 seconds and turn off?
