I have a dell laptop with windows xp installed. I wanted to try a linux OS so downloaded Ubuntu onto a flash drive, this means I can boot that up instead of windows and it works fine. The only problem is I cant get it to even recognise the mobile broadband USB, and so can't get an internet connection. If I run Ubuntu within windows (on a virtual drive) the connection works fine, I think this is because it is using the windows connection. I do not have a landline, so the 3g usb stick is the only option I have there. I wanted to eventually get rid of windows and just use ubuntu, however, won't be able to do this if I can't connect to the internet. Have searched google but found nothing to help me, and would appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions as to how I could to resolve this, thanks.
