Problem with Yamaha home theater system, help?

New member
Just bought a new 600w surround sound system and got everything installed. Im playing an audio cd through my dvd player and everything sounds great, but after a few minutes the sound quality falls on its face. It gets a real flat sound with a constant static coming from all the speakers.

The receiver is connected to my dvd player with a set of rca jacks and there is plenty of open air space around the receiver so I dont think its temperature related.
Any ideas?
Its got optical hookups but I dont have the cable for it, either way I dont think it would be causing this problem....
 
your problem is that its Yamaha... Get Sony when it comes to T.V's and stuff like dat... They are way better!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
RCA Jacks...They still make things that things that run off them. I thought everything was optical these days. Fiber Optics are the wave of the future...get on for the ride.
 
Geezus...THIS is why you text messaged me? You said it was an emergency. ::eye roll:: I was sleeping, yanno. Okay genius...you do not install this stuff for a living so it's probably the defective way you installed it. DUH. Hope this helped.

Talk about plenty of open air space...between the ears right?
